Exhaustion....
I'm putting cuts. Because there's a lot of stuff here and I need to ramble. ( Hour breakdown of Ri's Trip to a Wedding )For those who didn't read the part under the cut, the only thing that's really important is the part where I said "I am a child of the 80s." I know Michael Jackson was really weird and...let's call it "had issues"...but, having grown up when I did, he had a pretty big effect on the pop culture of that time. So, for those who did grow up in the 80s (and for those who wish they did) I was able to scrounge up the original Thriller video online. So I've been running non-stop today (making up a lot of missed stuff since the great flood of last week). I finally got my dinner break (yay) and in a few moments I'm running off to an event at my local B&N. So, almost done with the fic
I have like half a page of part two to write, then I just have to edit the whole thing. (Part III is complete. Angsty, but complete). In a mostly unrelated question - in a startling percentage of fanfiction featuring Remus, he's a fan of Joni Mitchell. While Joni Mitchell is cool, I was curious where this fanon came from. I'm assuming it's fanon. Did JKR ever mention in an interview "Oh, and Remus Lupin is a huge Joni Mitchell fan" or was there some influential fanfic that used that and everyone else latched onto it? Implied one-sided Wedge/Leia if you squint. Setting: Between ANH and ESB Disclaimer: Don't own it The problem with being a member of a resistance group trying to overthrow the government was – well, there were many problems, such as lack of decent food, having to spend massive amounts of time in hiding, the wanted posters…. But the current problem was that their small, hidden base was too small. Everyone knew everyone else’s business, or alleged business, and when situations like that arose, you sometimes heard things you wished you hadn’t. Really? It isn't LITERAL!! (Titanic mumblings)
Okay, I just cannot take it anymore. I have got to rant about Titanic. Yes, the movie. The one with Leo-the-former-heart-throb-of-the-tween-s et. The scene. In the end. Where the redhead chick promises not to let go. We all there? Yes. Okay. When she promises not to let go, she doesn't literally mean letting go of his hand. It's a throw back to the beginning of the movie when she was going to kill herself and he talks her back over the railing. (Remember, he promises then that he won't let go and that he'll get her safely back on the other side of the railing? No? He does. Trust me on this one). The line symbolizes (symbolizes!) that, just as she chose to live then and let Leo save her, she's choosing to live now and finds the strength to survive and then to go on and live her life the way she wanted. So when she says, "I'll never let go" and then lets go of his hand, she's promising not to kill herself and not to waste away in the life that everyone else expected of her. She's promising to live. Stop the Ficcing!
So another fic idea has bitten me. This one features Remus Lupin and Sirius Black a few weeks before the start of OotP and is mostly lighthearted fluff (though there are occasional moments of angst, as they remember James). I've somehow managed to type three pages in about an hour while doing other things (like talking online about how it's a beer night). This one should not be anywhere near as long as the Remus/Lily fic of doom. Here's an excerpt... Sirius pushed himself to his feet and grabbed his wand. “Whatever we do, we can’t get caught by Molly. She might be on to me, but she mistakenly believes you're respectable.”
“What are you planning on doing? Pinning the prank of the century on Arthur?” Remus asked wryly.

On my ffn version of the Remus/Lily fic of doom. I'm feeling rather proud of myself. When I think ffn, I think flames. Although, to be fair, I don't think I've ever been flamed there (though I've seen plenty of flames for other people); this is more due to the fact that up until now everything I posted there was for very obscure fandoms. :p I mean, there just aren't that many people who are into Silmfic. Perhaps I shall try to write more? Not on the fic of doom; it's self contained and finished. But perhaps another project. We shall see.
